Would Not Stay Again

We recently stayed at this hotel for a week and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. One of the main reasons we chose this property was because the website prominently features a waterpark. However, upon check-in we were informed that the waterpark is not actually located at this hotel, but at a nearby property, and costs an additional $30 per person to access. This felt very misleading. Prior to arrival, I called to request that our room be located near other families we were traveling with. I was assured this would be arranged, but we ended up being the only group placed in a completely different building, far from everyone else. Our room itself was extremely small with virtually no storage, making it very difficult to manage a week-long stay. After seeing other rooms our friends were given, it was clear ours was significantly worse. Housekeeping was another major issue. We did not receive any cleaning services during our entire stay. We later realized this may be stated on the website, but it was not something we were aware of when booking, and it significantly impacted our experience during a week-long trip. The room, hallways, and walkways were also noticeably dirty. Additionally, the outdoor-style entrance led to very loud nights, making it difficult to rest. We also experienced multiple maintenance and service problems. Our TV remote had no batteries, and despite reporting it, it took until the final night of our stay for someone to bring replacements. The internet was mostly down the entire time, even after multiple messages requesting assistance, and was never resolved. Another frustration was the hotel’s inflexible policy regarding reservation changes. Our travel plans shifted slightly, and although we had paid in full and were within a 30-day window, we were told we could not modify our dates. Instead, we were required to cancel and rebook at a higher rate. This was especially frustrating since friends staying at Timberwolf and Grand properties were able to adjust their reservations without any issues. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and unfortunately, we would not choose to stay here again.

Perfect for a couple

We stayed here for a week while attending a dance convention. Upon arrival, the room appeared clean and well-maintained. The layout was a little unusual—you walk directly into the bedroom, then continue down a hallway past the bathroom before reaching the kitchen and living area. It took a little getting used to, but it worked. Although the space felt a bit tight for our family of four, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals throughout the week. The refrigerator was smaller than a standard full-size refrigerator, but it held everything we needed. There was plenty of cabinet space, and I appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with utensils and basic cookware. The pull-out sofa was comfortable to sit on, but it was very uncomfortable as a bed. We ended up buying an air mattress for our son because the sofa bed just wasn't suitable for sleeping. The bathroom was a nice size, and having a washer and dryer in the unit was a huge bonus. It made it easy to keep towels and swimsuits clean and dry throughout the week. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable, although storage was somewhat limited with only three drawers and a small closet. I think this unit would be perfect for a couple, but it felt a little cramped for a family of four staying an entire week. One concern we had was noticing black soot or residue on the pillows in both the bedroom and living room. We eventually realized it appeared to be coming from the air vents. We're not sure exactly what it was, but we avoided sleeping directly underneath those vents. Another issue was that the smoke detector outside the bathroom would go off anytime we showered, even with the bathroom door slightly cracked. We called maintenance, and Scott came to help. He was friendly, professional, and did everything he could to resolve the issue while explaining how we could help prevent it from happening again. One of the highlights of our stay was the trolley system. It was incredibly convenient, and Bob, our driver most days, was wonderful. He was always friendly, and our kids genuinely looked forward to riding the trolley each day just to say hello to him. We also enjoyed using both the indoor pool at Lake Geneva and the outdoor pool. Since we stayed in Building 6, it was a bit of a walk, but both pools were clean, well-maintained, and exactly what you would expect from hotel pools. The staff throughout the property was friendly and welcoming. Overall, we had a good stay. While there were a few issues that could be improved, the amenities, helpful staff, and convenient transportation made it an enjoyable experience.

Unacceptable Treatment and Harassment During O

I had a very disappointing experience at Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Lake Geneva Resort. Guest services were rude and unprofessional. During my stay, I received repeated calls to my room claiming my service dog was barking, even though my dog was not barking. It felt harassing and upsetting, especially because we were out most of the weekend and barely in the room. I was also told additional charges were being added to my account, which made the situation even more stressful. We left the room extremely clean, honestly as if no one had even stayed there, so to be treated this poorly was unacceptable. On top of that, the pool area was disappointing. There were no towels available, and the area did not feel clean or well-maintained. I expected a much better experience, especially from a resort property. Instead, this stay left me upset, uncomfortable, and frustrated. Based on the poor treatment, repeated calls, cleanliness issues, and added charges, I am requesting a refund or adjustment for this stay. What made this experience even more frustrating was the way the service dog situation was handled. Throughout our stay, I was repeatedly contacted and questioned about my service dog, with staff insisting that my dog had not been properly checked in. After being repeatedly approached about the issue, I was eventually told that the employee who originally assisted us had failed to enter the service dog information into the system. In other words, the problem was caused by a staff error, not by anything we did wrong. Rather than simply acknowledging the mistake and apologizing, I was then told that my dog had been barking and that neighbors had complained. This claim was completely inconsistent with our experience. We were out for most of the weekend, and my service dog was not creating disturbances. It felt as though a new explanation was being provided after the original issue was discovered to be the result of an internal error. As a guest, I should not have been repeatedly contacted, questioned, and made to feel uncomfortable because of a mistake made by hotel staff. The entire situation was handled poorly and significantly impacted what should have been a relaxing weekend getaway.

Beds

Resort was lovely. Mattresses on bed were beyond terrible. They are worn out. HOA needs to buy new ones.

Must stay

What can I say about my stay? Everything it was amazing. From the friendly greeting on arrival to the clean spacious room. I felt very comfortable in the room with a private balcony overlooking the 1 st hole on the highlands course. The food was top notch. My husband said even the breakfast sandwich at the golf shop was good. So peaceful enjoying a cup of coffee and pastries in the spacious lounge overlooking the golf course. We can’t wait to make our next reservation for this fall.

Yes, I recommend this property.

Nice option instead of the expensive resort

positives: quiet, very quiet. close to the resort where the seminar was, literally a three minute walk up the hill. spacious kitchen/dining/relax area. Middlings: older rooms, you can see the wear/tear, but still, the fixtures were good, cabinets and doors in good shape, you can just tell they've been repainted and updated, and that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. Nice kitchen, bigger fridge for families/extended stays. Cons: like having the fridge, but it's also nice to have ice available, especially the first night/check in... fine to make your own, but that takes a bit, and having some ice you don't have to wait overnight for is nice. I am a boomer, so the multiple texts over the next couple of days to see how my stay was is intrusive... if I have a problem, you'll know it. you don't need to text me twice a day to check on how I am doing, how I am feeling. Shower water was warm, I prefer hot, but it was acceptable. Still, a HOT shower is a great thing, a warm shower is fine. Give me the option to have a shower as hot as I want, not as hot as the temp regulator says. was hard to figure out where to check in... after missing them the first time, I did see the signage that said to check in at the resort. Perhaps, instead of a text after I get there, use one of those texts before I arrive, to explain that i first need to drive to the resort, check in, then drive down to the rooms. I spent time lost trying to find "the lobby" before I figured it out. My fault, but... my experience too. and I know there's nothing to do about the layout of the rooms, but it's weird to have the door open into the bedroom, and then you walk through that to the living area.

Yes, I recommend this property.

The hotel needs maintenance

Front Desk & Service Observation: While efficiency is important, the check-in experience felt clinical. Room Condition & Housekeeping Maintenance: There are specific maintenance issues in the assigned room that require immediate attention (e.g., f Plumbing, ceiling hand print removed, or noise from plumbing). Cleanliness: The level of housekeeping was not up to standard. Rooms must be thoroughly deep-cleaned and inspected prior to guest arrival to ensure a comfortable environment.

No, I do not recommend this property.

Always a great Gary Con experience!!

The IHG rooms at The Grand Geneva Resort is always exceptional. The room was very comfortable. If a little warm overnight. You’ll have that I. The spring though. The staff is excellent. We’re always very pleased with our stay.
